The Toolkit Keeps Changing. That’s the Point.

I don’t have one workflow. I have a workflow that depends on what I’m making that day.

A quick TikTok idea doesn’t touch the same tools as a long-form YouTube video. A carousel doesn’t touch the same tools as a Reel. So instead of forcing everything through one pipeline, I’ve ended up with a set of tools that each own a piece of the job, and I move between them depending on the scope of the idea in front of me.

What Actually Handles What

Notion is where an idea starts, if it starts anywhere at all. Planning, organizing, deciding what’s worth making.

DaVinci Resolve is for long-form. Full edits, motion graphics, anything that needs real timeline work and won’t survive being rushed.

CapCut, on desktop, is for chopping. Cutting a long video down into something short-form, when I’m at my laptop and want more control over the cut.

Edits, on mobile, does the same job as CapCut but on my phone — captioning and chopping when I’m away from the desk and the idea can’t wait.

Canva covers graphics. Thumbnails, carousel slides, anything static that supports the video rather than being the video.

Dropbox moves files between all of it. Not exciting, but nothing else works without it.

Why Two Tools Do the Same Job

CapCut and Edits do almost the same thing. I use both anyway, because the split isn’t about the tool, it’s about where I am. Desktop when I have time and want to sit with a cut. Mobile when I don’t, and something is better than nothing.

That’s the shape of the whole system, actually. Not “pick the best tool and standardize.” Pick the tool that fits the moment, and let the system be a little redundant if that’s what keeps output moving.

Still Iterating

None of this is fixed. I didn’t design it top-down and then start making content. I made content, noticed where the friction was, and picked up a tool to remove it. Therefore the toolkit will probably look different in three months, not because these tools stopped working, but because the next bottleneck will be somewhere else.

No polished system to hand over here. Just: here’s what’s carrying the load right now, and I’m still building it.
